- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Brown the ground beef for 5 minutes, breaking it up. Add onion and garlic, cook 3 minutes until soft.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper; cook 30 seconds. Add tomato sauce, broth, Worcestershire, and sugar. Simmer uncovered 15 minutes until thickened.
- Cook hot dogs using your preferred method (boil, grill, or pan-fry). Toast the buns lightly.
- Place each hot dog in a bun, spoon chili on top, and add cheese, onion, mustard, and jalapeños. Serve immediately.
Notes
The chili can be made a day ahead, which deepens the flavor. If the sauce thickens too much upon standing, stir in a tablespoon of water when reheating. For a spicier chili, use a hot chili powder blend or add a pinch of cayenne.
