Ingredients
Method
- Char tomatoes, jalapeño, garlic, and rough onion in a dry skillet over medium-high heat until blistered, 4-5 minutes per side. Peel garlic, remove jalapeño stem and seeds if desired. Blend with cilantro, 2 tbsp lime juice, and 1/2 tsp salt until chunky.
- Toss chicken with chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, pepper, and remaining 1/4 tsp salt. Sear in oil over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through, 6-8 minutes total.
- Whisk sour cream, 1 tbsp lime juice, and a pinch of salt for the crema. Thin with a little water if you like.
- Warm tortillas in a dry pan or microwave. Fill with chicken, crema, salsa, diced onion, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.
Notes
If you are short on time, grill the chicken on a hot grill pan or outdoor grill instead. The salsa tastes even smokier made a day ahead.
