Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook macaroni in salted boiling water until just al dente, about 7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, crumble ground beef and cook until browned, about 6 minutes. Add onion and garlic, cook 3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in tomato paste and cook 1 minute. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Fold in drained macaroni and 1 cup cheddar. Spread remaining 1 cup cheddar on top. Bake 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest 5 minutes, then scatter diced pickles over the top and serve hot.
Notes
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking, it firms up just enough to scoop into neat servings. If you want the cheese extra brown, run it under the broiler for 1-2 minutes right at the end.
