Ingredients

  • 1 lb store-bought pizza dough
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Flaky salt to finish

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Pour olive oil into a 12-inch cast iron skillet, add dough, and press it to the edges and slightly up the sides.
  2. Spread pizza sauce in a thin layer, top with mozzarella, pepperoni, and Parmesan.
  3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is deep golden and the cheese is bubbly and browned at the edges.
  4. Let the pizza cool in the skillet for 2 minutes, then slide it onto a cutting board, scatter fresh basil over the top, and slice into wedges. Serve hot.

Notes

If your dough was refrigerated, leave it on the counter for about 15 minutes before stretching. That short rest makes it much easier to press into the pan without springing back.
