- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Whisk melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy, about 1 minute.
- Whisk in egg and vanilla. Fold in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined, then stir in chocolate chips.
- Press dough into a lightly greased 10-inch cast iron skillet. Bake 22 to 25 minutes, until golden and edges pull away from the sides.
- Cool in the skillet on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then slice into wedges and serve warm with ice cream.
Notes
If your skillet is new or not well-seasoned, rub it with a little oil and warm it for a few minutes before greasing so the cookie releases easily. Bake times may shift by a couple of minutes depending on your oven, so check early the first time you make it.
