Ingredients
Method
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4-inch round pan and line the bottom with parchment.
- Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, oil, vanilla, and egg white, stir until smooth.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake 20-24 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
- Beat the butter until pale, then beat in powdered sugar, 1 tsp milk, and vanilla. Tint pink with food coloring, adding extra milk if needed for spreadability.
- Spread the pink buttercream on the cooled cake. Press candy eyes and two cookies in for ears.
- Pipe a pink nose and draw whiskers and a mouth with black gel. Serve or chill.
Notes
Cool the cake fully before frosting or the buttercream will slide off. If the cookies are soft, toast them in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes and let them crisp up before using as ears.
