Ingredients

  • 1 pack Buldak Bokkeummyun (spicy chicken flavor)
  • 2 slices thick-cut bacon (about 2 oz)
  • 2 large egg yolks, divided
  • 2 tbsp finely grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tbsp reserved hot noodle water
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Boil a medium pot of water, cook the ramen for 4 minutes, and reserve 1/4 cup noodle water. Drain well.
  2. Slice bacon and cook in a cold skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove bacon, leave drippings in the pan.
  3. Off heat, add drained noodles to the pan with the red sauce packet and toss. Whisk together 1 egg yolk, Parmesan, and 1 tbsp hot noodle water, then pour over noodles and stir vigorously until glossy and coated.
  4. Transfer to a bowl, top with crispy bacon, a fresh egg yolk, black pepper, and extra Parmesan if you’d like.

Notes

Eat this right away, while the noodles are hot and the yolk is still a glossy pool. If you prefer a milder kick, use only half the spicy sauce packet and save the rest for fried rice later.
