Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch metal pan with parchment. Whisk melted butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until thick. Fold in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and chocolate chips until just combined.
- Spread batter in the pan and bake 22 to 25 minutes, until edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool in the pan 20 minutes, then lift out and cut into bite-size chunks.
- Warm the brownie chunks in a 300°F oven for 3 to 4 minutes if you like a hot-cold sundae. Scoop ice cream into a chilled bowl and arrange all sauces, nuts, sprinkles, whipped cream, and cherries in small bowls.
- Set out bowls and spoons and let everyone build their own sundae with brownie chunks, ice cream, and any toppings they want.
Notes
If you’re short on time, use a high-quality boxed brownie mix baked in a 9×13 pan; the bar still feels special. Let the ice cream soften on the counter for 5 minutes so it scoops cleanly without tearing up the brownies.
