Ingredients
Method
- Pour water and olive oil into bread machine pan. Add flour, sugar, salt, and Italian seasoning. Make a well in the flour and add yeast. Run the dough cycle.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, deflate, and shape into a 10-inch oval. Place seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover loosely and let rise until nearly doubled, 30 to 40 minutes.
- Heat oven to 400°F (200°C). Slash top diagonally, brush with water, and bake 22 to 25 minutes until deep golden and hollow-sounding.
- Cool on a wire rack at least 30 minutes, then slice with a serrated knife.
Notes
The dough cycle and rise times add about 2 to 2½ hours of inactive time, so plan ahead. If your kitchen is cool, let the shaped loaf rise in a turned-off oven with the light on for a gentle, warm spot.
