Method
- Heat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch round pan and line with parchment.
- Beat 3/4 cup butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Add to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Toss blueberries with 1 tbsp flour, then fold into batter gently.
- Scrape into pan, smooth top, and bake 30 to 35 minutes until deep golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Beat cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Spread frosting on cooled cake and serve.
Notes
The cake can be baked a day ahead and wrapped at room temperature. Frost the day of serving for the best texture. If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw and add about 5 minutes to the bake time.
