Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Optional: smoked paprika, chopped cilantro, sesame seeds for topping

Method

  1. Rinse the black beans in a colander under cool water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
  2. Add beans, olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, and salt to a food processor. Blend 1 minute, scrape sides, then blend again while drizzling in the water until smooth.
  3. Spoon into a bowl, swirl the top with a spoon, drizzle with olive oil, and add toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

If the hummus thickens in the fridge, stir in a teaspoon of water to soften it. The garlic flavor will settle and get milder after a few hours.
