Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup (30g) panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp grated onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Method

  1. Combine the ground turkey, panko, egg, grated onion with its juices, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix just until combined.
  2. Divide into 4 portions and shape into 3/4-inch-thick patties, pressing a shallow indent in the center of each.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the basket lightly, place the patties in a single layer, and spray the tops. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway, until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  4. Toast buns if desired, add the patties and your favorite toppings, and serve hot.

Notes

If your air fryer requires preheating, that step is included in the cook time. The patties can be shaped and refrigerated up to 8 hours ahead; let them sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cooking. This method works with ground chicken without changing a thing.
