- In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Spread the butter on the cut sides of the buns. Toast them cut-side down in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes, until golden.
- Divide the warm BBQ chicken among the toasted buns. Top with coleslaw if using, and serve right away.
Notes
If you start with raw chicken, plan for extra cooking time. The chicken filling holds well in the fridge for a few days, so it is great for meal prep; just store the buns separately.
