Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ cup (45 g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Method

  1. Place a medium saucepan over medium-low heat and melt the butter. Add the garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and soft, not colored.
  2. Pour in the heavy cream and stir. Raise the heat to medium and bring to a low simmer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring a couple times, until the cream thickens slightly.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat. Whisk in the Parmesan until completely melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Ladle the sauce over pasta, vegetables, or protein right away.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, let the cream simmer an extra minute before adding the cheese. If reheating, do it slowly on the stovetop and stir in a splash of milk to bring back the silky texture.
